The devil is in the details if you neglect to put GOD first!

Psalm 37:20

The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.

As I was meditating on this verse this morning the Lord showed me Leviticus. I’ve never really taken the time to focus on that book since my mindset is that, since Christ died for all of our sins how important could it really be that I go through understanding the details of Gods instructions to the Israelites regarding offerings and sacrifices. And just then an image of a frog sitting in a pot of slowly boiling 🥵 water flashed in my mind.

As I read the first chapter I realized how easy it is to become a “casual Christian”. How simple it is to just say “I believe” without sacrifice or obedience. Our casual attitude to sin is so easily brushed under the rug and made to be a “small detail” of life that may even go undetected.  But, just like the story of the Princess and the Pea, that small detail begins to affect EVERYTHING in our lives. Like a missing bolt from an engine. Like forgetting to tell someone AM or PM. The enemy wants to distract us from the details that God has already laid out for our lives!

1) What are your thoughts regarding the time and effort it took to reflect on the type of SIN and the specific type of sacrifice and/or offering the Israelites were instructed present to the Lord?  Do you spend time reflecting on these details?

2) When you were young did you mom and dad ever give you a whoopin' or send you to time out?  Did they ever follow up with the "Think about what you did and tell me why

3) What is your take on the term "Casual Christianity"?  How do you think we can learn and implement some of these Old Testament strategies to our current lifestyle in order to keep us from backsliding and justifying our sin without repentance?
